WELCOME

Welcome to Guisborough U3A. We are a self-help, self-managed lifelong learning organisation for older people no longer in full-time work. We are affiliated to The Third Age Trust, and a registered charity (No.1125829).

We provide opportunities for our fast-growing membership to meet like-minded people, and to get involved in a wide range of interest groups. We get together to meet new people, to try new activities, to have a go at coordinating a group, and most of all to have fun in learning.

The pages on our website will tell you all you need to know about us but above all we look forward to you joining us at our monthly get-together at Guisborough Parish Hall on Bow Street on the afternoon of the first Wednesday of each month.

Geology Rock Detectives Go On Tour: Friday 27th April to Middleton-in Teesdale, Wednesday 16th May to Swaledale, Friday 31st May to Ingleton.

What's new

Our 1st February get-together will be in the Parish Hall on Bow Street. The meeting will start at our usual time of 2pm. You'll be able to sign up for activities, visits and excursions.

NEW - Click here for the Activities page which gives more detail on the individual activities, including venue, day, time and a brief description of what is involved. For the Events page with updated information on visits and excursions in 2011-12, click here.

NEW - Click here for a copy of our January - February 2012 Newsletter. It is handed out at the monthly get-togethers and there are also copies in Guisborough Library.

NEW - Geology Rock Detectives Go On Tour! - Three dates are booked: Friday 27th April Middleton-in Teesdale; Wednesday 16th May Swaledale; Friday 31st May Ingleton. You can attend one, two or all three. Due to huge over-subscription at our January meeting, a final definite booking will be taken of the first 35 people from 1.30 pm at our February meeting in the Parish Hall. Excursion costs will be announced then. Payment by cheque will be due at the March meeting.

NEW - At our December get-together we mentioned a competition for U3A members in the Northumbria Region. The competition is being sponsored by Newcastle University's Changing Age initiative; its focus is on our generation, harnessing our intellectual capital and experience, to identify and collaborate in a research project in the areas of ageing and demographic change.
